BIO // 

Jim is a composer and orchestrator, and one half of musical theatre writing duo Buchan & Barne

 

Since reading Music at King’s College London and studying Voice at the Royal Academy of Music, he has written music for many different mediums including film, theatre & pop

​

He was the winner of the London Chamber Orchestra's Young Composer competition, and alongside his collaborator Kit Buchan was the recipient of the 2020 Stage Debut Award for Best Composer/Lyricist and the 2018 Stiles & Drewe Mentorship Award

​

Jim has studied composition under British composer of the year Graham Fitkin and Emmy Award-winning composer Hummie Mann. He is a proud member of BML and Mercury Musical Developments
